Lila’s Date Bread

This old fashioned date bread combines chopped dates, rolled oats, brown sugar, and buttermilk for a moist quick bread that feels somewhere between everyday bread and simple dessert cake. Vintage recipes like this were often served sliced with coffee, tucked into lunch boxes, or brought out during the holidays when date-filled baked goods were especially popular.
