Lila’s Pie Crust

Lila’s Pie Crust has a little trick hiding in its very short directions. Flour, shortening, and salt start things off, but instead of adding plain water, Lila mixes flour and water together, chills it, then works that mixture into the dough. Dated September 26, 1969, this handwritten recipe proves even a basic pie crust can have its own way of doing things.
